2009 saw the merger of the MI Infocomm Club and the MI Photographic Society, which resulted in the formation of the MI New Media Club (NMC). The NMC is differentiated into three branches - NMC (Infocomm), NMC (Photography) and NMC (Journalism). Members of NMC (Infocomm) not only learn animation and web-page designing skills, but also handle sophisticated audio-visual systems. Our duties range from the setting up of the school morning assembly public announcement system to providing videography, sound and backstage support for internal and external events. Members in NMC (Photography) continue to provide photographic coverage for all key Institute events such as the National Day celebration, MI Official Opening and other major school performances. The training sessions allow NMC (Photography) members to hone their skills and appreciate the art of photography.

The merger and redefinition of area of activities allow current club members to explore the field of journalism. NMC members have the opportunity to conduct interviews and post the videos online. Members also can post their articles on MI Wired - a platform for MI students to display their flair in writing and hone their journalistic skills through the new media.

NMC members have always discharged their duties in a professional manner. As such, we have garnered the school’s confidence in our members’ skills and dedication for school events. We have been given opportunities to apply what we have learnt and will continue to seek other challenges to scale greater heights.
