The Indian Cultural Society (ICS) began 2009 with a day camp held at East Coast Park for all its members. The camp served as a platform for members to bond and bring out the leadership qualities in them. It was also an opportunity for them to build up team spirit, which helped them to achieve many awards in various competitions.
One of the annual events that our members took part in was the Debate Competition hosted by National Junior College. Despite facing strong opponents, our members were not daunted. As well, they continued to put in their best effort for other competitions, as evident in the clinching of the Bronze Award in a drama competition held by Ravindaran Drama Group and also the Second prize in the Tamil oratorical competition held by MOE.
ICS has organised many activities such as debates and drama productions for its members, which provide an outlet for them to unleash their hidden potential.  The society believes that its members have the capability to excel in all aspects and hopes to cultivate their talents through engaging them in such activities.

The highlight of 2009 for the Indian Dance society was the Singapore Youth Festival Competition, where the Millennia Institute Indian Dance group clinched the Gold Award.  Seventeen dancers from our Institute, dressed in glittering traditional dance costumes and jewellery, performed a classical Bharatha Natyam dance piece entitled Bho Sambho.  Our senior dancers Gayathiri Devi (President), Sharadha Shree (Vice-President) and Shalani Thevy (Vice-President), together with our choreographer Ms. Suganthi Kesavan, spent many months training the dancers in the intricate traditional dance steps.
