In 2009, the Institute’s Track and Field Team participated in various competitions to test our limits. For track events, we took part in the 50th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships, SAA 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Allcomers Meet and the SPH Schools Relay Championship, where we managed to qualify for the finals and attain a commendable 4th position. In long distance events, we joined the Akira Swift Championship, the Wing’s Athletics Championship, Saucony passion Run and the “A” division race. The team’s commitment and effort were evident and with a little more hard work, we are optimistic our results could be improved in 2010.

Besides competing in events, the track and field members showed their dedication and love for the sport by volunteering as race officials and helpers at events such as the New Balance Real Run and MOE OLive! Run. These experiences provided our members with a better understanding and appreciation of the management aspect of the sport.

In all, the MI Track and Field will continue to improve and achieve excellence by nurturing talents and developing resilience. The club also hopes to bring more glory to the Institute in the years to come.
