“Perseverance leads to success” will always be a familiar phrase with MI touch rugby girls.

MI touch rugby interest group was formed in 2005 by a group of touch enthusiasts. Since then, the touch girls have planned and coordinated their own training schedules. Being a self functioning interest group, the girls also had to take the initiative to source out external competitions to sharpen their skills.

In 2007, the girls took up bigger challenges and registered for several high-level competitions including the Republic of Singapore Navy Students Invitational 2007, M1 School Rugby series 2007, Blacks Fun Touch, Youth-in-Touch Tournament, Nebo Beach Carnival, and Forca07. Their weekly trainings paid off as they won the shield championships during M1 School Rugby series and also came in a remarkable 4th in the Youth-in-Touch Tournament. Surviving without the privilege of a CCA status, touch membership was maintained at a noteworthy 20 members and weekly trainings were constantly kept at 2. The girls’ perseverance and genuine interest in Touch Rugby were also reflected by their healthy weekly attendance.
