MI Experience - MI Expereince
In line with the Institute's key strategic thrusts and initiatives related to "Teach Less, Learn More", we continue to build on the existing strengths and dynamism of our Institute, while constantly looking ahead, taking cognisance the fundamental changes that are occurring in our society and the world.

Developing a Responsive Education System

At MI, we adopt a holistic curriculum comprising both the academic and co-curricular arena. While our intent is for every Millennian to obtain a full 'A' level certificate, we also emphasise developing character, resilience and a positive attitude and outlook in life through participation in co-curricula activities and enrichment programmes. We have made remarkable progress in raising physical fitness levels among our students, clinching both the NAFPA Gold Award and MINDEF Physical Fitness Best Performer Award in 2004 and 2005. Many of our students have participated in national competitions in academia and sports. Our students have also won SYF Gold awards in dance, music and drama, demonstrating our niches in the performing arts.

Fostering Intellectual Curiosity and Spirit of Innovation and Enterprise

Recognising that MOE's key focus for  in the coming years is to nurture a spirit of Innovation and Enterprise (I&E) among our students, we will build on our broad-based holistic education experience by creating more space for students to pursue their passions and express their creativity. We define I&E culture as, "Developing the dispositions, outlook and life skills in our people to have the courage of heart to get out of their comfort zone and take calculated risks to create". To this end, we seek to provide the flexibility and space for the culture of innovation to permeate our school population.

Our I&E efforts ride on our current curriculum framework with subjects like Economics, Management of Business, providing opportunities for our students to apply theories learnt. We encourage student entrepreneurship efforts and ventures through approval of business plans that cover processes from set-up to running and wrap-up complete with profit and loss calculations. Intellectual curiosity and resilience kept our students focused on their project for the NTU-JC-HSA challenge despite their minimal knowledge in biology. They earned an honourable mention at the competition. Our students in the Robotics Team lacked in computing and engineering know-how, but their passion and thirst for learning made up for it. They clinched awards at the FIRST Vex Challenge, both at the national level and in the United States, in 2005 and 2006.
