About MI - Our Departments

Millennia Institute's Mathematics Department offers H1& H2 Mathematics under the latest MOE GCE 'A' level curriculum.

The department mission is to nurture our students' interest and ability in Mathematics by engaging them in a variety of learning experiences so that they will be life-long learners and problem solvers in the dynamic world of opportunities. Department programmes such as the AU Programme and the Active Participation framework, were the result of consulting the various learning styles of our students.

The AU programme aims to help students bridge the gap between Additional Mathematics and H2 Mathematics. The Active Participation framework not only promotes consistent and continual learning amongst our students, it also allows for the development of enduring life skills such as presentation and teamwork.

To facilitate differentiation of learning, students of varying academic abilities are banded into different groups to maxmise individual talents and potential in Mathematics. There are opportunities for better students to engage in new challenging problems.

In a nutshell, we envision to achieve ‘A Family of Learners’ who are…

Motivated   --    Hardworking, Passionate
Analytical  --    Thinking, Reflecting
Tenacious  --     Resilient, “Don’t Give Up”
Hearty       --    Warm, Happy, Enjoying the Subject

"We enjoy a close rapport with our students, enabling students to feel more at home with Mathematics and providing students with opportunities to be inquisitive to find out more about the subject. In Millennia, we envision to create 'A Family of Learners'.

Through the various teaching strategies our teachers employ, our students will develop an ability to appreciate and understand that there is beauty and order among the 'chaos' of Mathematics.

We hope that a MI Mathematics student can make use of the mathematical skills learnt to cope with the practical demands in  his everyday life and be a better communicator as well as a contributor to society."

"At Millennia Institute, we strive to help students to take responsibility for their learning and cultivate a positive attitude towards the discipline. Students will learn a wide variety of concepts including symbolic manipulations and applications of algorithms/techniques. Under our programme, students are able to gain in-depth understanding of concepts and mastery of skills where they can articulate the inter-connections between the topics learned in class."
