MI Experience -
Culture & Performing Arts

The Culture and Performing Arts committee’s belief in enriching the lives of all Millennians resulted in a conscious effort to being about awareness of various cultures and performing arts genres. This is via the three tenets of Exposure, Experience and Excursion.
This awareness is actuated in the Enrichment activities that were conducted. Through various Enrichment activities, students were able to hone their skills as well as expose them to a wider aspect of their respective genres. Workshops on animation, Chinese painting and acting were organized for our students. The PU 1s took part in a batik workshop as part of the Post-Promotional Activity. Each student created their own small piece of art and collectively they created a huge art piece which will be mounted on the wall near the school hall.
Reputed as an Institute with a passion for the arts, 2009 was an exceptional year with our Malay Dance, Indian Dance, Modern Dance and AKE all achieving a Gold award in the Singapore Youth Festival. Our Modern Dancers were invited to be the opening performance for the SYF 2009 Dance Presentation in July. Our Chinese Cultural Society garnered a Silver award and was invited to put up performance in Hua Yi Festival at the Esplanade in Feb 2010. Our Symphonic Band, in their first attempt in SYF was awarded the Bronze award. In an effort to improve on their skills as well as doing their part for the community, our Symphonic band in collaboration with Jurong Junior College organized a Christmas Charity concert in aid of St. Luke’s Hospital on 14th December 2009.
